On the shore of the Magic Lake in Wadi El Rayan, Fayoum, this villa opens straight onto the water and the dunes from the moment you walk in. Inside there are seven bedrooms, two doubles and five triples, each with its own bathroom, so a large family or a group of friends can spread out and sleep up to nineteen. The ground floor holds six Arabic majlis areas, each opening onto a Bedouin-style terrace built for long evenings outside. Beyond them sit a garden and a swimming pool. Days here move slowly. You wake to the sun rising over the lake. In the afternoon you swim, and at sunset the colour shifts across the water. At night the desert goes quiet and the sky fills with stars. It's a place for the people you want around you, far enough from the city to feel like a proper escape.
