A Longer Winter Stay in Hurghada: What to Check
Staying one to four weeks in a Hurghada apartment? What to check about the kitchen, laundry, Wi-Fi, workspace, utilities and the full price before you book.

For a stay of one to four weeks, the things that barely matter on a weekend become daily: a kitchen you can actually cook in, a way to wash clothes, an internet connection and a place to work, storage, and quiet. Before you book, confirm each of these with the host in writing, ask what is and is not included in the price (cleaning, linen changes, electricity), and compare listings on the full price for your exact dates rather than the nightly rate.
Who this guide is for. Travellers planning one to four weeks in a Hurghada holiday apartment this winter, whether working remotely or taking a longer break. These are holiday homes booked by the night, not long-term tenancies. For how the booking panel, deposit and minimum stay work, read what to check before booking a holiday apartment in Hurghada; for choosing an area, see the best areas to stay in Hurghada. This piece is about what changes when the stay gets longer.
1. A kitchen you can cook in
"Kitchen" on a listing can mean anything from a full kitchen to a kettle and a two-ring hob. On 20 October 2026, 40 of the 42 Hurghada holiday homes on As-home were tagged with an equipped kitchen, but only about half listed an oven (20) or a microwave (23). Tags are set by hosts and a missing tag does not prove something is absent, so ask:
- Is there an oven, or only a hob? How many rings work?
- Which pans, knives and utensils are there? Is there a chopping board, a colander, a kettle?
- How big is the fridge, and does it have a freezer?
- Is there a table you can eat at, not just a counter?
2. Laundry and cleaning
A washing machine matters from the first week. 36 of the 42 listings tagged one; a dryer was rare (6), so ask whether there is a drying rack or a balcony line. Then ask about cleaning and linen, because a nightly listing is usually cleaned before you arrive and after you leave, not during your stay:
- Are towels and bed linen provided, and are they changed during the stay? How often?
- Is any cleaning included during a stay of several weeks? If not, can it be arranged, and at what cost?
- Are basics such as washing powder, dish liquid and bin bags supplied, or do you buy your own?
Five of the 42 Hurghada listings were tagged with daily housekeeping. Elsewhere, assume cleaning during the stay is not included unless the host confirms it.
3. Wi-Fi and a place to work
If you are working, this is the check that matters most, and the one listings answer least. 34 of the 42 listings carried a Wi-Fi tag, but none stated a connection speed, and one listing's description warns that the Wi-Fi can be slow at times. A Wi-Fi tag tells you there is a connection, not how fast or reliable it is. Ask the host:
- What speed is the connection, and can they send a recent speed-test screenshot?
- Is it a home line or a mobile router? Is there a data cap?
- Does the signal reach the room where you would work?
A local mobile data plan is a sensible backup if your work depends on being online.
The workspace is the other gap. Only 2 of the 42 Hurghada listings were tagged with a workspace. A dining table (tagged on 21) can be a workable desk for some people, but it is not a desk: ask for a photo of where you would sit, and check there is a socket nearby and a chair you could use for a full day.
4. Sleeping, storage and comfort
Check the bed sizes, not just the bed count, and whether there is a wardrobe or drawers for several weeks of clothes. A small studio can feel fine for a weekend and cramped over a month.
Winter is cooler than the summer season Hurghada is known for, so check how the apartment is heated if you feel the cold. 21 listings were tagged with heating, but the tag does not say what kind; often it is the air-conditioning unit's heating mode. Ask which rooms it covers.
5. Groceries and getting around
Over weeks you will shop like a resident. Where a listing shows a map, use it to see how far the apartment is from a supermarket, a pharmacy and the places you will go every day, and ask the host how they get there. Find out how you would get around without a car: whether the walk to shops is practical, and how you would get a taxi. If you are driving, 37 listings were tagged with parking, but ask whether it is a reserved space.
6. Noise, building works and the area
Ask directly whether there is construction in the building or next door, and whether anything is planned during your dates. Listing photos may have been taken before work started. Ask which rooms face the street, whether there is a café, mosque, club or main road close by, and how the building is in the evenings. For a long stay, a quieter street can matter more than being a few minutes nearer the beach.
7. Utilities and other charges
As-home's price for a holiday home covers the nights, taxes and any listed one-off fee; the quote does not include separate lines for utilities, mid-stay cleaning or a security deposit. The descriptions of two Hurghada listings say electricity runs on a prepaid meter card. Ask before you book:
- Is electricity included in the price, or paid by meter? If by meter, who tops it up, and how?
- Are water, gas and internet included?
- Are there any building, pool or beach fees?
- Is any deposit taken for the keys or for damage, and how is it returned?
Get the answers in writing through As-home messages, so there is a record if anything is disputed.
8. Will the property take your dates?
Longer stays are bookable: As-home's booking panel has no maximum number of nights, and the only length rule hosts set is a minimum. Most Hurghada listings accept a single night (32 of 42), and two require seven. Enter your dates on each listing to check that the whole period is available. If a listing is "request to book", the host confirms before the booking is final; 14 of the 42 worked this way.
9. Compare the full price for your dates
Do not compare nightly rates. Enter your exact dates and compare the total each listing shows, with taxes and any fees. On 20 October 2026, no Hurghada holiday home on As-home had a weekly or monthly discount in effect: a 28-night quote was the nightly rate multiplied by 28. If you want to ask a host for a better rate for a long stay, do it before booking and get any agreement confirmed in the booking itself; do not assume one.
Then add what the total does not cover: electricity if it is metered, cleaning if you want it, laundry supplies, and transport. Two apartments with similar totals can differ by a lot once these are counted.
| Before you book a long stay, confirm | Why |
|---|---|
| Oven, hob, pans and fridge size | "Kitchen" has no fixed meaning |
| Washing machine and drying space | You will do laundry weekly |
| Cleaning and linen changes during the stay | Often not included on nightly listings |
| Internet speed and type; where you would work | No Hurghada listing states a speed |
| Storage, bed sizes, heating | Comfort over weeks, not nights |
| Shops, transport, parking | Daily errands |
| Construction and noise | Photos may be out of date |
| Electricity, water, other fees, any deposit | Not lines in the booking total |
| Full price for your exact dates | The nightly rate hides the real cost |

Frequently asked questions
Can I book a Hurghada holiday apartment for a month on As-home?
Yes, if the dates are free. The booking panel has no maximum length. These are holiday homes booked by the night, not tenancies, so check what is included for a stay that long.
Do hosts give monthly discounts?
On 20 October 2026 no Hurghada holiday home on As-home had a weekly or monthly discount in effect. You can ask a host before booking, but do not assume one.
Method: figures cover the 42 holiday homes returned by As-home's public search for Hurghada on 20 October 2026. Amenities are as tagged by hosts; a missing tag does not prove a unit lacks something. Minimum stays, discounts and the contents of the price were read from each listing's price quote for 14 nights (11 to 25 January 2027) and 28 nights (1 February to 1 March 2027); quotes do not check availability. Statements quoted from descriptions are the listing's own, not checked by As-home. These figures describe listings on As-home, not the wider Hurghada market.
